Research

Researching family or community members who served is a key part of learning about the First World War. It is much easier to show empathy and develop understanding when the stories are personal, relatable and individual rather than broad sweeping statements and large incomprehensible numbers. The Shrine of Remembrance has put together ten short student and teacher friendly instructional videos for researching service people on the internet including the National Archives of Australia, the Australian War Memorial and the Commonwealth War Graves.
